SundanceTV’s “The A Word” tells a story of a family after their 5-year-old son Joe is diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Playing with that title, the show is doing an “A-word of the week” ahead of each episode. This week’s word is “adolescence,” which is highlighted in an IndieWire exclusive clip below.

While the show does center on the young boy and the struggles of autism, the show also pays attention to the entire family and their lives both related and not related to Joe. In this new clip ahead of tonight’s episode, Joe’s uncle Eddie (Greg McHugh) talks to Joe’s sister Rebecca (Molly Wright) — who has a new relationship with Luke (Thomas Gregory) — about the importance of feeling right about her decisions to have or not have sex, which is as equally sweet as it is awkward.
